The Development of Taiwanese Art in the 1980s Art Tour

Following the change in economic structure and rise in income in Taiwan in the 1980s, citizens began paying more attention to individual consciousness and quality of life. After allowing tourism, removing martial law and promoting the electronics industry, authoritarianism gradually declined and restrictions of the past were no longer enforced.
Since the official announcement of the lifting of martial law in 1987, the road to democracy has accelerated the pace of change in Taiwan's society. The influence of quickly changing trends on the global scale has also caused local society to change in terms of becoming more multi-facet 1990s, bring Taiwan to fall into step with the rest of the world.
The Development of Taiwanese Art in the Eighties shows both the influence of post-modernism on the Taiwan art world, as well as the criticism and reflection on politics and society at that time. Works include: 1) the aesthetics of space and exploration of concepts and materials, and 2) critical expressionism in reflecting on environment, culture and society.
