Chi Chien(b.1974)

Chi Chien represent Passing through the Post-Garden through a mixed media installation. Here, “garden” involves the parameters of an inter-zone between private sphere and public realm. It also invokes a common phenomenon in ordinary life: occupying the road by putting pots of plants on the roadside. The core idea of the work is precisely “fighting for space” with an attempt to penetrate the idea of power regarding others, public space and territory in the frame of body ethics. As Chi Chien put it, “‘Garden’ is a wish devastated by wars, a margin of the system where public and private realms are in interference. In tiny spheres like shabby allies and neighborhoods, or on large aspects like national conflicts, land justice is always closely related to political power.”
