2014 marks the 14th version of the Taipei Arts Awards. For more than a decade, it has witnessed diverse and outstanding creative achievements of a new generation of Taiwanese artists. Meanwhile, it has become an important indicative award in incubating new talents in the country. Furthermore, in recent years, to enhance the quality of the development of culture and arts in Taiwan, Taipei Arts Awards attempts to focus on encouraging qualified professional artists with a certain zeitgeist.

 

After three phases of selection, the jury chose winners of 2014 Taipei Arts Awards out of sixteen artists on the shortlist. The First Prize goes to Kai-Yuan Chi’s Exercise Trilogy; the five Merit Awards go to Tsao Chun’s Mrs. Joachim’s Suitcase, Lin Jun-Liang’s Charlie Brown’s Visit to Mituosayang, Ni Hao’s Night Sculpture, Jian Yi-Hong’s Boy and Uncle and Jao Jia-En’s Arms. Other works on the shortlist are: Po-Chieh Chang’s Map Poetry/Taipei, Chi Po-Hao’s The Rhythm of the Space, Ting Chaong-Wen’s Heroine: Searching for White Rose, He-Hsien Chung’s Cloudless, Wen Meng-Yu’s Time in Static, I–Hsuen Chen’s Nessun Dorma, Chang Nai-Ren’s Farewell, Edward, Chuang Chih-Wei’s Infection Series, Chen Ching-Yuan’s Flare-s and Che-Wei Chen’s Howl in Howl Space. The prize-winning works will be exhibited in Gallery D, E, F on B2 of the museum from December 27, 2014 to March 8, 2015.
