Centennial Celebration of Chang Wan-Chuan

Chang Wan-Chuan was one of the most important pioneering artists who traveled to Japan for studying in Western painting. He was born in Dansui in 1909, and passed away at 95 in 2003. The tip of his paintbrush drew bold audacity and the beauty of color integration, and it also expressed how fauvism melts into expressionism as well as the sentimental view for the world. Chang Wan-Chuan created his art mainly from inspiration by people, views, and objects at rest. From his sketches we could see his strong foundation of capturing the life of all things. We selected several of his best oil paintings, aquarelles, and sketches to allow visitors to get a closer look at Taiwanese art of earlier times.
