This exhibition is a follow-up plan for "The Fourth Liao Chi-Chun Oil Painting Award" in 2004. This award is set up by the Liao Chi-Chun Scholarship Management Committee with the goal of commemorating this great artist in Taiwan. The goal of this event is to reward young artists who have garnered great achievements and research potential. Mr. Liu Kuo-Cheng was the most outstanding artist among the 22 participating this year. His works all possess a similar style with rich content. In the series of works entitled Children's Faces - Reflection of Hearts, Mr. Liu attempts to explore his own experiences in childhood. These experiences are all related to how he grew up, and how he interacted with his family and society. Through realistic oil-painting techniques, he vividly displays the portraits of children from different backgrounds, which create a series of refined yet diverse faces. Furthermore, the situations in which children face growing up in today's world, as well as feelings towards childhood, are magnified under these enlarged portraits. His detailed paintings have draw emotions out of viewers, helping them to recall and reflect on their own childhoods.
