► Event Introduction

Materiality & Temporality in Wang Yahui's Works

"Life is like a glass of clear water—transparent and easily overlooked. The artist translates such transparency into frame after frame of forward-moving images. These familiar scenes evoke our experiences and memories, allowing us to project onto them in an analogical way of viewing."
— Text provided by Ji-Hong Lee

"The gaze pierces through reality. What catches the eye extends beyond visible forms; where light, shadow, and time intersect, subtle, indescribable perceptions quietly reveal themselves. The temporality of images sweeps across the world. The moments emerging on screen go beyond recorded instants; between the intertwining of memory and imagination, that which has faded and that which has yet to occur slowly unfold into an endless landscape."
— Text provided by Guan-Ming Lin

As fellow video/moving image artists who have collaborated with Wang Yahui in creative practices and exhibitions, the two guides will offer a unique perspective from the "reverse side" of the image. Through this distinct "path of seeing," they will delve into the material properties of the works, technological evolution, temporality in time-based media art, as well as the creative encounters and dialogues between artists.
