Act II: SOUND OF/FROM Shake to Undo: An Immersive Poetry Manifesto  Program X-site Drama

 

Ground lifted and Landscape Unveiled

The public program of 2026 X-site unfolds from a single fissure, along which an in/outward journey begins. It invites the public to walk inside/out the spaces between the installation, the plaza and the museum, and through body and perception, to re-experience the interplay of light, sound, scale and ways of seeing. In response to the three core elements of the installation, “mirror”, “pavilion”(roof), and “hill”,  the program develops a series of site-specific practices through reflection and retrace, lingering and gathering, and elevation and retrospection.

 

The public program is structured in four acts (events):

ACT II: SOUND OF/FROM Shake to Undo: An Immersive Poetry Manifesto

ACT III: FLOW/HOLD Burst: Urban Pus in Eruption

ACT IV: LIGHT IN/OUT Sunbeams

 

It encompasses live performances, participatory actions, sound, literature, and workshops. The on-site experiences guide participants to gradually awaken their senses inside/out the eventized installation. Through walking, lingering, and listening, the audience co-shape with the site a new public experience. (Text / LIANG Huai-Chih)

 

Act II: SOUND OF/FROM Shake to Undo: An Immersive Poetry Manifesto

You tear open a book to dig out the fruit of the Longan.

You tear open a chicken to unearth Chihiro’s parents.

You tear open a poem, uncovering morphemes, timbres, eardrums.

 

SHAKE TO UNDO:
once upon a book, once upon a song.

 

Roland Barthes once described an individual thrill he experienced listening to certain vocal music—a dual pleasure, a jouissance that arises between language and music, yet simultaneously transcending all semantic meaning. The beauty he locates in the “grain” of the voice lies in “the materiality of the body speaking its mother tongue.” In this event, with the sonic texture of poetry at its core, you are invited to recline freely within The Jade, the sheltered space of the mirrored pavilion, amid waves of sound—attune yourself to the prosody of language, the flesh of the words, the breathing of your corporeal self, the sky, and all coexisting beings.

 

Participation: 

  • general public;
  • 30 persons/session, with on-site standby admission subject to check-in availability.

 

Reminders: 

  • This is an outdoor performance that involves physical positions such as sitting, reclining, and lying down. Please assess your physical condition before registering and wear comfortable clothing and shoes on the day of the event.
  • According to the preparation of the sessions, the whole venue of The Jade: Plaza Calls to Plaza will be closed for 120 minutes before and after each session (depending on the on-site announcement of the day). Please adjust your visiting routes.
  • The organization, postponement, or cancellation of the public program is subject to weather conditions. In the event of any changes, a notification email will be sent by 14:00 the day before the event. Please check your email and the TFAM official website for updates.  
  • This event may be recorded for promotional and research purposes. By registering, participants consent to being filmed/photographed and authorize the museum to use their likeness for educational and promotional purposes.

 

Admission: 

  • Free, yet a pre-registration is required. (Please purchase a museum entrance ticket in accordance with the TFAM admission standards before entering.)
  • Pre-registration on the event page of the TFAM official website:

- The online registration opens at 10 AM, 05.19 (Tue).

- Computers are recommended for registration. Registration steps vary according to the different mobile phone generations.

- After successful registration, a confirmation email will be automatically sent to your email address. All event-related notifications will be communicated primarily via email.

- One email for one registration. (For 1 child and 1 accompanying adult, please register using two different email addresses.)

- If you are unable to participate, please make sure to cancel your registration online. The vacancy will be open for others. 

 

Registration:

  • Registration starts 30 minutes prior to the event (18:30 - 18:55). On-site standby calls will begin 10 minutes before the start of the event (18:56 - 19:00). Please be present on time at the TFAM entrance (outdoors). Late arrivals will not be accommodated.
  • To ensure a pleasant experience, the number of participants is limited. We solicit each participant to respect the event rules to collectively create a rich experience of art. TFAM reserves the right to disqualify any participant for the following case: failure to register on time.

 

On-site standby:

  • Vacancies will be filled by on-site standby participants in sequential order, depending on the check-in status of online registrants.
  • The on-site waiting list will open at the check-in desk 45 minutes before the event begins.

 

About the performing artist: 

Peace WONG  (b. 1991) is a poet, writer, and sound sculptor based in Taiwan. Born in Hong Kong, she works hyperactively across text, fiction, and sound. Wong’s published works include that’s the hormones speaking (short story), It’s the caffeine dancing (poetry), about a stalker (concept album). Her latest notable work is blame it on the caffeine, a poetry album of spoken-word electronica released via so queer records—a sonic reimagining of her debut poetry collection and a continuation of her exploration of hybridity, voice, and the politics of voicing. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing and is currently pursuing a PhD in Musicology at National Taiwan University.

Wong is the recipient of the Zhou Mengdie Poetry Award, the Openbook Annual Award for Best Chinese Fiction, and the Houshan Literature Annual New Writer Award. In 2024, she was named one of the ten most anticipated post-90s writers in Taiwan by Wen-hsun literary magazine.
