TFAM On the Move is a public program created by the Taipei Fine Arts Museum to popularize art through education in Taipei City’s various districts. In 2024, in collaboration with the Taipei Zhongshan Hall Management Office, TFAM invited contemporary artists to design exclusive on-site collaborative workshops. The focus of this programming is to combine appreciation of works from the Museum collection with stories told by local residents, produce site-specific artworks for an exhibition echoing the history and splendor of Zhongshan Hall and its surrounding business district, Ximending, and guide visitors as they take in sights of daily life in the area.

To connect the imaginations of contemporary artists and community residents, the exhibition makes use of original-size digital printouts of three works from the Museum collection: Railroad Tracks at the North Gate, Taipei by Teng Nan-Guang, Wanhua I by Chang Chao-Tang, and Ximending Nostalgia by Leng Se-Liang. Artist Syu Jia-Jhen interviewed and collected old photos from owners of long-standing area businesses to create cards for a game designed to elicit collective memories of Chengzhong District. Workshop participants are invited to play the game by telling stories based on the cards. Artist Tsui Kuang-Yu led residents to carefully examine changes in the neighborhood and produce imaginative videos expressing their dreams for revitalizing the area. After viewing the exhibition, visitors are invited to explore interesting scenes of transformation as they stroll through the Zhongshan Hall neighborhood.
