The display of the workshop

2024.05.11-2024.06.30

Extended from the exhibition Modern Life: Taiwan Architecture 1949–1983, “Modern Life Lab” is a field created for people of different generations to discuss urban space, living and body experience, and historical memory.

The workshop presents the results of collective and extemporaneous practices undertaken by students from architecture departments at different schools. On a foundation of advanced technology, these students propose insights on the complex negotiations between history and architecture.

The architecture exhibition focuses on the interactions between architecture, society, politics, and culture during the period from 1949 to 1983, when Taiwan strode into modernity. “Modern Life Lab” provides a space for the exchange of ideas and puts forward integrated perspectives arising from reflection on history with contemporary thinking and experimentation.

The space of “Modern Life Lab” is inspired by offstage of architectural incubation. Studio imagery is abstracted into discrete symbols and transformed into modifiable architectural units. Every possible perspective is then elaborated through the deformation and re-creation of display structures.
