Liu Yu's Field|Live Performance│11/30-12/11 Performance

Liu Yu's Field is a participatory art project. Visitors are invited to take part. Guides will provide visitors with a one-on-one therapeutic experience. The inspiration for this work is the artist’s move to the east side of the Coastal Mountains this year, presenting various stages in her transformation as she experienced life there. While re-centering her life, Liu began to grow crops on a small piece of land that had long lain fallow. Farming was a way to quickly familiarize herself with the environment, the climate, and the ecology. For the artist, interaction with the land is like an exchange of bodily sensations – the cultivator labors, the soil changes its constitution, and the crops grow robust. Liu Yu brings the scope of the work back to an exploration of herself at a spiritual level, attempting to convert the bodily sensations and messages exchanged through “physical practice” into a formal vocabulary, while also responding to a vital force that people living today may be trying to find.

This work takes place by reservation. As a participant, please temporarily set aside your thoughts and consciousness, and experience the journey of bodily perception imagined by the artist.
