TFAM on the Move—Roaming Storytellers
The Museum is inviting local residents to attend TFAM on the Move and share their stories through art in the streets. Using the Museum collection, local memories, and art interactions, and under the theme of My Daily Taipei, we will explore regional lifestyles, and together identify local cultural characteristics and features. In 2021, the focus will be on Wenshan District, the southernmost part of Taipei. Selected works from the Museum collection will be examined, including Deng Nan-Guang's Chih-Nan Temple created in the 1960s, Tsao Chiu-Pu's Seal Script from the 1970s, Chen Shun-Chu's 2003 Journeys In Time—Zhinan Temple I and II, and others for a total of five that are related to the area and have recorded changes in the way people live, and how they have enjoyed leisure and entertainment in different eras.
Leisure and entertainment activities depicted in these works include music, drama, dance, movies, juggling, travel, and animal breeding. Storytelling has a long history as entertainment and has developed to satisfy a wide variety of tastes, as well as the need for cultural expression. It has also spawned many kinds of plots and different games. This year's TFAM on the Move activity will start with Chen Shun-Chu's Journeys In Time—Zhinan Temple I and II, which was chosen for its relationship to Wenshan District. Local residents are invited to enjoy and share youthful memories evoked by the artist's work, which will bring together old and new storytellers and appeal to every taste. Presented through different art forms and depicting different journeys, the memories of senior citizens will be made concrete, and Taiwan's unique culture and local memories will be explored.
