Workshop: Build the Heart of a Home

About the Activity:

Have you ever looked back at the place where you live from a long way away?

At that moment, could you feel a solid connection with your own body and taste the flavor of daily life at home?

Slowly enter the home that is in your own mind and explore what it looks like...

Perception influences our relationship with the world, how we position ourselves in it and how we respond to it. Huang Wei-Min’s artwork Lodging engulfs the viewer with its huge size. The visual experience of its detailed, realistic style stirs up and expands our perceptions and starts us thinking about our living environments. This workshop will lead participants to move their bodies as a way to perceive the relationship between themselves and the space they are in. Using different materials, they will visually express the qualities of their perceptions of home. Through the process of building a home, parents and children will ask questions about the connections between the environment and their inner feelings of peace and security, creating a free and intimate place for the relationship of dwelling.

How to Take Part:

Turn on your body’s radar station.

Walk into the lodging.

Build the home that you see in your mind.

Light up the center of the house—say what is in your heart.
