In tandem with the gala exhibition Endlessness of life: 25 Years Retrospect of Fang Lijun, TFAM's Research department teamed up with Hu Yung-fen, curator for the said exhibition, in the planning and organization of the forum "Fang Lijun and Contemporary Art in China,” hosted by Huang Guang-nan and attended by a number of scholars and experts including Thomas Kellein, Akira Tatehata, Lu Peng, Carol Lu, J.J. Shih and Hu Yung-fen.
Contemporary art of China has token a different route since the reform and open policies took effect. Artists began to strive for their own ways of expression. Especially after 1991, the international world of art has gradually begun to attach importance to the post-1989 Chinese artists. Artist Fang Li-jun is one of their representative figures, “The Uncertainty of Life Exhibition of the 25 years of creative career of Fang Li-jun” exhibited more than 70 representative artworks of Fang Li-jun created since 1984, including sketches, oils, prints, sculptures, and mechanical devices-a grand retrospective exhibition of the 25 years creative career of the artist. This informal discussion aims at increasing the in-depth understanding of fang Li-jun and his entire environment.
