Botanical illustration is an art form based on scientific principles, but it also makes full use of human feeling. It’s inseparable from scientific research, and also expresses a sense of beauty.
The artist will be making black-and-white drawings with points and lines, to document the appearance of plant specimens, with an emphasis on scientific accuracy. By precisely expressing the natural postures of plants and conveying their minute beauty, the artist will reveal the rarely seen work process that lies behind the study of botany. Everyone is invited to reignite her/his keen powers of observation and the curiosity about the natural world.
