Urban Network Booting:Kung Shu-Chan(lecture) Your creativity @ TFAM

Programmatic Goals:

If a city wants to continue to thrive, creativity is a necessity, as cultural representation is not simply formulaic. Many features of any city can be upgraded or carefully planned, from its living environment and architectural planning to its various cultural productions such as art, industrial design, fashion, print media or audio-visual media. Most importantly, a city must be a safe spiritual haven.

Content of the lecture:

What kind of city is Taipei? How do we address traces left behind by history, deal with its multiple hybridity, and then construct a great city out of an ordinary city like Taipei? Pioneering strategies used in recent years by Taipei City have centered on sustaining, revitalizing or creating various conceptions of urban spaces. This lecture explores the meaning of urban vitality from the perspectives of the dual gazes between Taipei and London (host of the 2012 Summer Olympics). Based on the concept of urban network booting, the lecture jump starts different lifestyle possibilities from organic blueprints—a topic everybody can talk about, but finds difficult to fully grasp.  (Venue: B2 Auditorium)
