Autumn Special: Cabaret Theater
A beverage and a performance is a natural pairing—and if we say theater is like the movies, then what fun would it be without your favorite beverage? At the September 22, in the courtyard cafe, we will be offering special drinks to excite both your taste buds and minds. Enjoying these two experiences at the same time has become the fashion, and when watching a performance at the museum you can be the king!
Formed in 2009, the quintet Voco Novo chose their name to suggest the idea “new voices.” The group reinterprets folk, jazz, and popular music, as well as classical Chinese poetry in graceful a cappella, a medieval musical form which includes Gregorian Chant and was sung without instrumental accompaniment in cathedrals to praise god. The quintet has established their own a cappella style, and sings primarily in Chinese, thus adding another dimension to this musical form that relies on the most fundamental of musical instruments—the human voice.
