How can we gain a deeper understanding of local culture through advertising? The quickest way is to look at public restrooms and advertisements. Advertising in Japan is distinctive because of its use of Japanese language, and also because it reminds us of sushi; in Thailand advertising relies on Thai humor as much as it does “sa-wad-dee-ka.” Likewise, Taiwanese advertising has its own special qualities which are derived from local culture, ideas and people.
