11/21(Sat)The International Forum International Talk

The works of the internationally renown, contemporary artist Cai Guo-Qiang arise from a combination of eastern philosophy and modern, scientific ideas about the universe. TFAM is proud to cooperate with Cai in organizing the exhibition Cai Guo-Qiang: Hanging Out in the Museum, which will be on display at TFAM from November 21, 2009 to February 21, 2010.

This mid-career retrospective is an extension of the grand scale exhibition Cai Guo-Qiang: I Want to Believe, which was first staged in 2008 at the Guggenheim Museum, New York and then toured to the Guggenheim, Bilbao in 2009. It will showcase the Fujian-born artist’s interpretations of social movements through large-scale installations and the artist’s patented use of on-site use of pyrotechnics. In a highly anticipated event, Cai will also unveil three new works incorporating themes particular to Taiwan, Day and Night, Taroko Gorge, and Strait, which refers to the Taiwan Strait.
It is our sincere hope that Taiwan’s art world will, by viewing and discussing Cai’s works, take advantage of this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of an artist who has made an indelible impression on contemporary art. For this purpose, we will hold an international forum on November 21, the opening day of the exhibition.
