The Seminar for the Special Project “The Museum in My Camera” Forum

Do you know you are not allowed to take pictures in the museum? Do you know why? If you want to photograph the museum and its exhibition, do you know how to proceed? In>The Museum in My Camera, curator Manray Hsu openly calls for surreptitious photographs from the audience and exhibits these still and moving images in the context of ‘Whose Exhibition is This?’. A panel of museum administrators, curators and visual practitioners will be held to discuss the mechanisms of the museum operation, to reflect on the position of gaze and viewing in the museum’s discursive space, and to also investigate the complex motivations of the audience with a secret camera, and how these images are viewed and circulated further on.
