Artist Gallery Talk

Apart from graphic art, Yi-Chen Hung starts another exploration of aesthetics trying to “watch” from the viewpoint of “viewer” to discover the origin and purpose of painting and experience the principle and essence of creation. She uses twisted stretcher and shrunk canvas to reflect the interaction between creator, material and painting; uses frames of different thickness and stickiness of glue to create organic pieces with material characteristic retained; combines the basic elements “paint, stretcher and canvas” of a painting in a different ways to form a “organic’ presentation. The form of painting is no longer the attention of object. With the display of this exhibition, it redefines the existing value of subject. Hong applies her rich experience on materials to develop her own creation way.
