To be one of the 2008 Taipei Biennial’s important programs, Dictionary of War is a public, two-day event that will be held at the auditorium of the museum on the 24th and 25th of October. The Taipei edition features 15 concepts with the title chosen by each individual speaker and is presented as a lecture, performance or video of up to 30 minutes. This collaboration is based on the fact that the biennial’s focus and all of the issues are related to current violent conflicts manifested in the process of globalization. War, in this case as in the general conceptualization of Dictionary of War, is not limited to military conflict, but to visible and invisible daily violence. Besides, the historical and current contestation between Taiwan and China, with USA and Japan standing in between, is our starting point of involving Dictionary of War.
