Volunteer Organization

Our volunteer group members are ethical and loving individuals who have positive personality and enthusiastic working attitude, and who are between 18 and 65 years of age and have no difficulty getting around.

  • I. Structure of organization of the volunteer group
    • 1. The group has one leader, 3-5 vice leaders, one person in charge of general affairs, and one accountant.
      • (1) Election of the group leader: All group members participate in the election of the group leader by casting votes; candidates are recommended by the meeting of volunteer group cadres. Term of office of group leader is one year. If re-elected, the leader can serve a second term. If two candidates receive the same number of votes, then they draw lots to decide who is the winner.
      • (2) Vice group leaders, person in charge of general affairs, and the accountant are selected by the newly elected group leader after consulting the promotion section of the Museum.
      • (3) Successive group leaders are ex officio honorary consultants of the following term, and have a 1 year term of office in such capacity. A honorary consultant enjoys all the rights of group member, but also has the obligation of giving instructions and being consulted at the general assembly of group members and at the meeting of volunteer group cadres.
    • 2. There are many sub-groups in the volunteer group: Tuesday morning sub-group, Tuesday afternoon sub-group, Wednesday morning sub-group, Wednesday afternoon sub-group, Thursday morning sub-group, Thursday afternoon sub-group, Friday morning sub-group, Friday afternoon sub-group, Saturday morning sub-group A, Saturday morning sub-group A, Saturday morning sub-group B, Saturday afternoon sub-group B, Saturday night sub-group, Sunday morning sub-group A, Sunday afternoon sub-group A, Sunday morning sub-group B, Sunday afternoon sub-group B (above sub-group members are ordinary volunteers), docent sub-group, 'Art experience corner' sub-group, library sub-group, administrative sub-group, consulting sub-group ; a total of 22 sub-groups.
       
    • 3. Each sub-group has 2-3 sub-group leaders chosen by all sub-group members. Their term of office is one year, but can serve more than one term if re-elected.
  • II. How sub-group members are elected
    • 1. Each year, ordinary volunteers and resources classroom volunteers are recruited in March and September (additional recruitings can be held for special needs.) Recruits must be able to server at fixed time each week and to serve for at least one year. After practical training is completed, those who have passed the examination of the respective sub-groups become regular volunteers.
    • 2. After having passed screening, examination, and successfully completed training and fieldwork, regular volunteers can become members of the sub-group, library sub-group, and ‘Art experience corner’ sub-group.
    • 3. The volunteer group leader and the promotion section of the Museum recruit senior sub-group volunteers to be members of the administrative volunteer sub-group.
  • III. The meeting of the volunteer group cadres:The meeting is convened each season of the year. Volunteer group leader presides over the meeting. The museum director, head of the promotion section, volunteer supervisor of the promotion section, and leaders of all the volunteer sub-groups are invited to participate in the meeting.
    The meeting discusses and decides by vote upon the various matters concerning the volunteer group and then brings its resolutions into effect.
     
  • IV. The advisory committee:
    Advisory committees are formed according to the different tasks to be performed, such as for the different subjects of volunteer docent examinations. Advisory committee is also formed to discharge duties of volunteers.
