La Camera Insabbiata

 

La Camera Insabbiata is a virtual reality work by the legendary artist Laurie Anderson, and Taiwanese new media artist Hsin-chien Huang. The work recently won the Best VR Experience Award at the 74th Venice Film Festival and the two artists have been approached by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City for a new VR production . La Camera Insabbiata consists of eight unique rooms, where the viewers enter a virtual world made of blackboards symbolizing “memory,” and freely fly around to explore words, drawings, symbols, sounds, and memories.

Notice to Visitors

La Camera Insabbiata consists of eight interactive rooms, and you can also freely fly around in the giant space. There are no rules, and you may freely choose how you want to experience it, just like in your own dreams.

  1. If you experience dizziness or discomfort during the experience, please take off the head-mounted device immediately, and inform onsite staff for assistance.
  2. The head-mounted devices and remote controls will be sterilized after each session, so relax and enjoy.
  3. Your voice will be recorded during the experience, and later visitors will hear the recording of your voice.
  4. The audio of the work is in English, Chinese translation will be provided onsite for your reference.
  5. The full duration of the experience is 15 minutes, but you may leave anytime you wish during the experience.
  6. If it is your first time, we recommend that you sit on the stool to help maintain balance. If you have no problem with balancing yourself, you may stand up and experience greater degree of freedom.
  7. Parental guidance is recommended for children under the age of 12.
  8. Female visitors during pregnancy, and patients suffering from high blood pressure shall evaluate own physical conditions before participation.

 

 

Registration 

11/18 is La camera insabbiata VIP Sneak-Preview Day. On 11/19, La camera insabbiata will officially open to the public. Registration in advance is required, and each session is limited to 4 visitors. Registration webpage under construction. Online registration expected to open on 11/15.

  1. Please register with own personal information for onsite staff to verify. Registration Confirmation Notice will be sent via SMS or e-mail after the online registration process is completed.
  2. Each session is limited to four visitors who have registered in advance. Visitors must arrive five minutes before the start. When in case a visitor fails to show up, the vacancy will be open to visitors onsite.
  3. The registration system will open on 11/15, accepting registrations for sessions on 11/19, and 11/21 to 11/26. Afterwards, registrations for the following week will open on every Monday at 10:00am. For example: Registrations for 11/28 to 12/3 will open on 11/20; registrations for 12/5 to 12/10 will open on 11/27, and so on.
